To understand something is to translate it, to shape it, to choose what survives until the picture comes into view. Lacunae is a short film about what this shaping leaves behind.
Lacunae was created as part of Symbiosis 2026, a program which pairs scientists with filmmakers to create forms of science cinema. For this project I was paired with Flatiron Institute Researcher Lukas Devos.
